great results in the first half of the season

Hello everybody,

Whenever you don't get to hear so much from me here, it is usually season time and the preparation of my athletes occupies me to the full. At the same time, it's the most exciting time as a coach. On the one hand, I'm happy about great results, regardless of whether they win or even finish for the first time, and on the other hand, the shooting sessions are the most fun! Both in the execution and in the planning. The athletes feel that too, of course. In the last two months before the sporting climax, things usually go right again, and often I even have to brake athletes here so that the energy lasts until the big day X.

The trainer is there for that too, stepping on the brakes every now and then. Otherwise, what I have seen many times in the past happens. The athletes train too much and too intensively (mostly both) too early in the season and reach their maximum performance in May / June. Since this only lasts four to a maximum of six weeks, then the last few weeks until the big race got tougher and the athletes wish that it was finally over. A pretty sure sign that the mold came too early. However, there is an emergency plan for such cases. If you notice that the form is coming too early, to recognize that you are floating from one record unit to the next on an athletic exhilaration, then immediately insert a basic phase and delete the intensities. This stabilizes the shape and prevents the motor from overheating. The biggest mistake would be to keep pounding on it and hope that you will somehow survive the laps by the time you reach the finish line.

In the last few weeks my athletes have had a lot of great races. Of course, I cannot list them all here. Next personal records, really tough competitions, such as 70.3 Aix de Provence, there were two Hawaii slots won at IM Lanzarote. There are now four of my athletes in Hawaii this year, and a few qualifying races are still to come. There were two AK victories at the 70.3 in St, Pölten, as well as qualifications for the 70.3 World Cup in South Africa. Last but not least, AK championship and runner-up title at the German championship middle distance in Ingolstadt. Not to mention all the other races - every finish counts. Because first of all we celebrate victories against ourselves, against the weaker self, against our comfort zone and simply because Triathlon is the coolest sport ever 🙂
