At the weekend there was a 24-hour swim in Mellrichstadt. The Chooza team from Nuremberg \/ W\u00fcrzburg was also there. Who is now wondering what is that? Here is a brief explanation:<\/p>\n

The team started with a maximum of 10 people. Whoever covers the longest distance in 24 hours has won. The first 23 hours could be changed at most every 100m, in the last hour it was allowed to change every 25m. What sounds like hard work and sleep deprivation, it is! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

All in all, 100-150x 100m come together so quickly for a swimmer, and they always hit the ground!<\/p>\n

Due to two cancellations at short notice, our team started with only 8 swimmers. Although all other teams changed the first hours every 100m, Mirko, Lukas, Blei & Co always swam 200-300m in a row to give the worse swimmers a longer break. After a few hours they were not only flat, but already 1000m behind.<\/p>\n

After numerous phone calls, someone finally answered the phone and the girls and boys were supported by two friends from the area from 8 p.m. onwards. With ten of them it was now much easier to swim and overnight they were able to swim up to the leaders again. About 10! For hours, both teams gave each other a constant change of stroke and leadership. You can see the first victims here ... lead in his 4:30 minute sleep \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Early in the morning the tide turned and by the penultimate hour the Chooza team had worked out a lead of around 600m. Knowing that this is not exactly a lot, things got really intense in the last hour. From then on every 25m could be changed, which all teams did.<\/p>\n

In the staccato rhythm, our team was finally able to prevail with a new course record of 110.5km and take home the overall victory. Unfortunately, I haven't reached any of them yet, apparently they'll sleep through until Monday night! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
