Girl power: Five qualifications for Hawaii at the last Ironman races
The past Ironman races in Hamburg, Klagenfurt, Frankfurt, and Vitoria-Gasteiz were not only major sporting events, but also emotional highlights for the athletes. Five of them have qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in these historic competitions – an extraordinary achievement of which everyone can be very proud.
Each of them trained hard for months, demonstrated discipline, and prepared with great dedication for these long-distance races. The reward: outstanding performances on the course, personal bests, mental strength—and, for five of them, the coveted qualification for the sporting mecca of all triathletes: the Ironman Hawaii in Kailua-Kona.
Even if not everyone accepted the slot – whether for personal, professional, or logistical reasons – everyone was thrilled with what they had achieved. Qualifying for Hawaii is far more than just a ticket: It's a testament to perseverance, confidence in one's own body – and also in the training together.
As a coach, I'm filled with immense gratitude and genuine pride to have been a part of this journey. These athletes not only delivered athletically, but also demonstrated team spirit, ambition, and passion. That's exactly what makes triathlon so special.
Congratulations to everyone—on your qualifications, on your personal achievements, and above all on the path you've taken. Hawaii or not: You are champions.
