Frankfurt marathon

Finish in the festival hall

Well, that was it, my first pure marathon since 2006. A great thank you goes to them ASICS front runner, of which I count myself among the lucky members. Great organization, lots of fun and very nice people. In total we were probably around 60 runners from the frontrunner team. Many on the road in relay teams, but also some on the solo marathon. The day before meet and greet with Jan Frodeno and Dieter Baumann.

It was clear to me in advance that my marathon was not going to be a record time. I just couldn't get myself up to training during my season break. I've been back in training for two weeks now and took the run with me today as a welcome water level test. Because I didn't go to extremes, the run was very eventful. Seen a lot of the city, chatted nicely with people and just enjoyed the atmosphere! Which, unfortunately, I do far too seldom in competition. Nonetheless, towards the end it got really hard again, especially with my muscles. In the midst of the slim frontrunner elite, I felt like a weightlifter, but I was quite happy with my time of 3:21.

The frontrunner girls relay

Crossing the finish line reconciled me with everything and now I'm as hot as French fries for training! 🙂

I wish you a good start to the week!
