Thorsten Eckert in an interview

On Monday, in the beer garden on the Whörder See in Nuremberg, I took the chance to interview my good friend, training partner and long-term rival 😉 Thorsten. Thorsten is also passionately committed to sport. He works 40-50 hours at Siemens in Nuremberg, is married and is also currently building a house.

All that didn't stop him from delivering his masterpiece at Challenge Roth last year and crossing the finish line in 8:39 hours. Like me, Thorsten started triathlon in 2005 and worked his way forward bit by bit. In the interview, he generally talks about the last month of training before the main competition and tapering, what you should do and what as a professional you shouldn't do. In addition, in his opinion, mental preparation is also a must! What it looks like with him, more on that in the video.
