Training 1st week of the new block

After the planned rest week, the November block began. Monday was a public holiday, so I had time for extensive basic training including a short run in the evening to briefly warm up the muscles again. At the running pace, however, I just let it "run" because it felt pretty good. With such runs, it is not a problem if you go a little out of the GA1 area, because you have already trained it for hours beforehand.

Fundamental debate
There was a good saying from Bjarne Riis in the transition season. There he told a sports reporter what he trains over the winter and how intensively. At some point he asked: “Yes, and when do you train on the basis?” Then Bjarne said: “Basis? I cycle 40,000km a year, what kind of foundation do I need !! ?? ”- I don't mean to say that we shouldn't train any more, by no means, that just belongs in the transition period. But just think about it, some have been practicing triathlons for years and now calculate the number of training hours that will result, day in, day out! These athletes then wonder why they are not getting faster. You can recognize them by the fact that, as soon as the intensity starts or should start in spring, they return to the basis after 2 weeks of more intensive training, on the one hand because they have an unfounded fear that they will lose their basis (think about that ) and on the other hand because they find the training too hard.

On Saturday I had planned something else, so nothing at all on that day and on Sunday I managed to do a really nice longer run again, so that you don't fall asleep but at the same time stay in the good GA1 area. My long runs are always progressive, start out relaxed (about 140HF for me) and then get imperceptibly faster in the course of the unit until you have a nice GA1 / GA2 long distance pace at the end.

see you!
