Party hard!

It always means that you get older. Amazingly, however, I coped well with the weekend. At the moment I also need a lot less sleep than usual. All of this leads me to the assumption that our being is capable of all sorts of things without sporting stress, which previously only worked with great effort.

In my training phases I was always too tired to; going out & partying, staying up late, not sleeping in, tidying up, parents and all kinds of visits, gaming computers, stuffing tons of sweets into me, other interpersonal things 😉
Now all of this is no longer a problem, after 5-6 hours of sleep the batteries are full again and off you go ...
Unfortunately, I am now too tired to train, that's the only thing that suffers 🙂
But not for long! After a week of self-reflection, I have now decided (even in the absence of possible alternatives) to take part in the Moritzburger long distance tria. There is probably still a Santa Claus campaign at the Quelle Challenge, but let's be honest, paying 400 € for a long distance, that's where the fun slowly stops for me. That's almost 800 marks, since before everyone would have shown the organizer a bird! Sure, for other IMs you currently pay 350 €, but I only go there if I want to qualify. I can't even do that in Roth! If this continues, at some point you will be faced with the choice: "Do I want to get a new bike this season, or do I want to start with an IM?"
I won't support so much commerce next year and that's why I decided on the Moritzburger LD. The route and the atmosphere are not comparable to Roth, but the price, the organization and the local flair are right stimmt
There I will definitely try to beat my best time so far and see how far I can get to the 9 hours.
How is my preparation then? Well, if I only knew that 🙂 I will coordinate with Bennie in detail, but I think the broad lines are clear ...
November-December: strength training, athletics, technique & speed (this does not mean speed, but coordination), basics
January-February: basics, strength training, athletics, technique
March-April: strength (on the mountain) & slowly out of the basic area
May: full throttle in all three disciplines!
June: competition!

For me, a long distance works best when I've worked out a stable foundation beforehand. Then a few weeks of intensive units are enough and I'm hot as frit fat! The longer and more stable the foundation, the more intense training I can handle for a few weeks without killing myself.

Currently I pray to the weather gods every day that they will send me a mild winter (like the last two years). Otherwise it looks bad with cycling. In winter I prefer to ride my bike, the weather is more stable, you can crank it up, you have the roads to yourself and don't have to share them with 1,000 other cyclists. AND you feel like a “tough dog” when you drive alone for hours in the freezing cold, like Amundsen did on his South Pole expedition.
My record last year was a bike ride from Lichtenfels to Nuremberg (approx. 4 hours) on December 23rd, at -6 degrees. Ridden with my racing bike and autumn gloves that were way too thin. I was tough then !! The next day, unfortunately, I was lying there with a fever (where did it come from so suddenly ??) So you shouldn't overdo it 🙂
